sorry i haven't been keeping up guys: my computer died.

March 21, 2002

Did any of you guys get my invitation for the new odd word?

This is interesting: 100 Best Characters in Fiction Since 1900
From Book magazine, March/April 2002.

Jay Gatsby is number 1, which I find interesting (I feel strongly about the character of Jay Gatsby for some reason, so don't mind me, but I don't know if he's worthy of first place). A lot of characters from To Kill a Mockingbird have been included, even Toad from Wind in the Willows and Winnie the Pooh got places!!

Holden Caulfield seems a little weird to me. I liked Catcher in the Rye, but I found him to be a little annoying.

Any comments? Glaring omissions? I stole this link from metafilter, and I saw that people had commented on the absence of Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, any characters from Lord of the Flies, any Vonnegut or Allende characters.

This list has also made me terribly aware on how behind I am on my reading. Ugh.

No need for apologies, I should have made my self more clear.

AND YOU HAVE ITALIANS MOVING IN WITH YOU?!

VIVA ITALIA!!!!

Vin: it's okay to feel bad about things that happen to you. Maybe I should have made this more clear. Parents dying, natural disasters, job losses. Fine. Be sad. The colour of your hair turning out wrong, breaking a nail, being nowhere in your life because you're a fat and lazy pig - you have no reason to complain. This is what I meant. The blah droning of people with small little fuckadelic (new word!) lives.

Further note: Geocities is stopping ftp soon, meaning we can no longer use blogger. I suggest we move the site.

"I don't think it's ever really plausible"? wordy bitch!
Have not read Joli's blog, but I will soon. Reading Notre Dame de Paris in little teaspoons, consume a good sum of what you like if that is what you want to be. But now an entry I wrote two days ago, because I saved it.

"Fuck piss shit, always me there wanting to resize the fucking browser window after I've written alot of shit down for an update. Tomorrow I'll tell you what I wrote. Actually I can think of alot more to write now. Went to a French Punk concert this saturday, as expected it was either the midget convention of the north west of France or many young kids get off on shoving people around. Anyways as the evening got more violent, I lost my glasses then found them again, in bits; then realised one lense was bigger than the other and now still missing a lense.
Lessee, been listening to NOFX Pump Up the Valuum, Less Than Jake Hello Rockview, The Roots Things Fall Apart, Buena Vista Social Club, Some Flamenco that Spanish peeps avail to me. Met a bunch of peeps from Galicia, Galis (sp?) The Celtic region of Spain. Interesting. I feel like extending my arms and passing air through my pursed lips to simulate the cruising action of an airplane at adequate altitude."

An article: why paying reparations to blacks is racist and a bad idea . Or something to that effect. I haven't read it myself, but I hope to soon.

READ THIS . It is fucking funny.

Vin/duckmonger: i hate listening to love songs. the only love song i truly enjoy is 'last goodbye' by jeff buckley because it's HONEST. He uses plain language and has an awesome voice. Download that mp3 NOW biznitch. Also, you crack me up.

Meekz: You are lucky to be in like the unversity capital of the world? How many universities are there in MA? Like 30 or something? Dude try to catch a Chomsky lecture, and report back to us PRONTO. This is your mission. Apparently it is easier to go hear Chomsky talk in fucking CANADA than it is in the USA. Also, how's the music scene going back in Malaysia? Do you hear from those guys? How are they? Dude, that is one evil looking picture, and did you lose weight again? Every time I see a picture of you, you are making an obscene gesture and you look thinner .

Han: How's France?

March 05, 2002

I don't know how important it is for me to finish university sooner than a male, because I don't have any aspirations to get married or have children at this stage in the proceedings. Or at any future time for that matter.

Flying shaven twat? Oh my!

My Asia-Pacific International Politics lecturer sounds like he is dying. This was pointed out to me during a lecture by my friend yesterday, causing me to fall off my chair laughing and drawing unwanted attention to my red-faced self.

By the way, I just did a virus check on my computer and I have something strange on here. I am trying to delete it now.

I know there are a lot of tools in undergrad law, but I think at any reputable university the knobs outweigh the cool people irrespective of faculty. This is what I see at my school anyway. Maybe I should do law as a postgrad degree, where people have made the decision themselves to study law, and aren't doing it because mummy and daddy said they should.* Starting 2004. If I'm not completely sick and tired of university at that point. I realised that international law at a point would probably be more like politics, which is probably why I find it appealing.

At the university I go to, I certainly wouldn't get up to anything vaguely interesting until probably the third (and final) year of the degree. That's the year when you can choose electives - the first two years are pretty basic, introductory and scrotum twistingly DRY. The only reason I know this is because I know a shitload of people doing law at uni (and as I said before, 60% of the people at school are pretentious twats. I don't know what it is about extremely intelligent people, but a lot of them are compelled to be rude/insanely competitive/shallow/vapid. That's not really fair though - the ones that aren't bastards are fucking cool).

ANYWAY. It was just a thought. I probably won't end up doing it because I don't relish the idea of being in university until I'm 27 fucking years old.

(*I'm not saying this is reason why you do undergrad law, Vin. I know you're a lot more mature than these people).

The name Mark Aspinwall sounds vaguely familiar. I think I've heard him mentioned in relation to your university, actually. Or maybe I am imagining things because it is unseasonably cold here.

Yeah, I am busy too. It is fucking ridiculous. I got a job, and on top of uni I could easily be doing 40+ hours of shit a week. Not including eating, sleeping, homework, watching TV, playing with my loyal dog companion, and exercise.

Made opened yesterday here in Australia and as a big Jon Favreau fan, I'm probably going to go see it when I can do so for 4 bucks (Mondays).

Han, I have written you a disjointed letter over the course of a week. I shall be sending it shortly. I am feeling motivated to buy stamps. I like the idea of something I have written infiltrating the French postal system.

Vin, perhaps you could help me out with this: international law. How is law organised in the international arena/on an international scale? I'm considering starting a law degree next year (because I don't want to join the real world just yet), and the idea of international law (if it is what I think it is) is intriguing.

Meekz, have you seen Chomsky speak live? He must do talks in BOston (hello Uni town), have you ever had the opportunity to see him do his thang?
